A Taste Of Honey Schools and Colleges Day

The morning kicked off with the schools and colleges coming in and having a in depth discussion with the designer of the show Peter Butler. This was then followed by a fun costume workshop, with the students voting out of 2 different costume styles of what young people would wear in the 1950’s/60’s. Then to finish we began dressing volunteers up from the audience and they performed a catwalk around the stage and find out if they were right or wrong with the audience exploding with excitement and joy.

After that we meet some of the cast and director. This started with an introduction and context to the show, lead by Director Emma Baggott. Continuing onto scene breakdowns with the cast and a directing workshop.

Then to finish the morning of workshops we ran the opening of the show, however to promote all the work that goes on behind the scenes and the hard work of all of our technical team we broadcast live on the cans what can be heard going on backstage. So as each moment happened, we played over the sound system the que calls from the deputy stage manager, sound and lighting leads on the show.

After a morning jam packed with workshops, the students were then lead around a live resource pack we had set around the hall. More schools and colleges joined as everyone took to their seats to watch the performance, followed by a live Q&A with the entire cast. A microphone was passed around the theatre for any student to ask unfiltered questions to anyone in the cast.

All in all it was an incredible day filled with joy, excitement and fun. We are very proud we were able to engage with that many young people all at once and fill out theatre with that many incredible young people.
