We’re looking for local people to perform in Tales of the Dale, our headline show at The FestiDale.

There is no need to learn lines as this will be script-in-hand.

Tales of the Dale is a Royal Exchange production, made from the real stories of the people of Rochdale, it’s a brand-new show being created for The FestiDale – a 2 week community festival of local arts and culture in our mobile theatre, The Den, at Kingsway Park School, Rochdale (8-18 Aug 2024).

Led by award-winning audio and theatre directors Polly Thomas and Nickie Miles-Wildin, Tales of the Dale will be performed in the 80-seat mobile theatre space, the Den, across 3 days (15-17 Aug). The show itself will be professional and non-professional community performers, reading stories that have been shared by the people of Rochdale, curated with Shahid Iqbal Khan, author of Djinnity, 10 Nights and BBC Radio 4 drama, Love Across the Ages.

We will be casting professional Manchester actors and are looking for people like you to perform alongside them. As it is script-in-hand you won’t be expected to learn the lines, but we will hold a couple of rehearsals to get everyone comfortable using a microphone, reading the stories and being on the stage.

There will be a different group of community performers on each day, which will be decided nearer the time. We will need people to be available for casting in July, and for rehearsals and the shows in August.

No acting or performance experience necessary, this is an opportunity for everyone!

Age 14+. Open to all Rochdale residents.

Let us know your interested by filling out this form, and we’ll be in touch!

Dates:

Casting: Will be held in July (time and date TBC).

Rehearsal: attend 2 half-day rehearsals between 29th July-  12th August (time and date TBC).
