Since 2014, we have had an Elders Company which has been about promoting creativity into later life, challenging stereotypes about ageing, building an artistic community and welcoming people into our spaces to learn about and make theatre.
The Elders regularly includes over 100 older people who have found a community, feel a great sense of belonging within our organisation as well as the wider landscape of creative and cultural activity that Manchester and Greater Manchester has to offer. It also includes people who tell us that they have often felt shut out of organisations like ours, but now they feel included. Everyone involved is learning new skills and enjoying creativity into later life. There is a lot to celebrate.
