We also have two performance workshops – Saturday 17 May at 3pm and Saturday 24 May at 3pm.
Running from 12.00pm – 2.00pm
Suitable for ages 11+ (anyone under 14 must be accompanied by an adult)
What is Grooves in the Den?
Join Global Grooves, a Carnival and outdoor arts organisation based in Tameside in a journey of learning Carnival rhythms. A multi-talented musician Emma Marsh (Fuzia) will share her expertise teaching Afro-Brazilian Carnival beats at four drumming workshops across the festival. We then want to bring as many people from Tameside as possible together in one big performance on the final night of the Den Festival in on 1 June.
What is the difference between Taster workshops and Performance workshops?
The taster workshops are for people to dip their toe in or for people who don’t want to perform but still want to have a go at drumming. The performance workshop will teach you a short drumming routine that will be part of the performance on the 1 June.
What’s the commitment?
Come along to the workshop, either half the day or along for the full day! The more you put in, the more you will get out. You don’t need to come to all four workshops however, one workshop / day is enough to be part of the final performance. Celebrate shared gifts throughout the festival – think fun costumes, great energy, and a chance to show off your new drumming skills.
