What a way to start 2024! We welcomed 50 young people from across Greater Manchester to do work experience with us for a week.
Careers in Theatre Week Round-Up
Careers in Theatre Week is for young people aged 14-19 to get an insight into theatre industry careers. Our annual work experience event includes workshops with Royal Exchange Theatre staff, artists and practitioners, discovering the different elements that make a producing theatre come to life.
We had a jam-packed week full of incredible workshops. Leading the week we had actor & young company graduate Gurjeet Singh, alongside fellow actor Conor Glean straight off the back of his starring role of Romeo in Romeo & Juliet. We also had incredible facilitators such as Brief Encounter designer Rose Revitt, Artistic Director Keisha Thompson, Playwright & Artist Reuben Johnson, Director Nickie Wildin, Sound Designer Mark Melville. Also the students had fun with our staff learning and having a go at costume, prosthetic makeup, costume, lighting, sound and much more!
As a parent, my daughter came home extremely excited each night and couldn’t wait to fill us in on what she had been doing each day. I am so happy that she not only managed to get a place on the careers week, but also the experience surpassed our expectations.
