We are looking for 11-14 year olds from Tameside to take part in a week-long half term project about drama and theatre making. The group will create a new play from scratch under the expert guidance of director Martha Simon and perform it on Saturday 31 May as part of the Den Festival.

The new play will be called Congrats! and will be created around the theme of celebration. Everything else is up to you!

When?

Monday 26 May – Friday 30 May from 10am – 4pm each day

Saturday 31 May – performance day (exact schedule for this day is TBC)

You must be available for all the dates.

Where?

The project (and the Den Festival) is all taking place at Stalybridge Civic Hall, Trinity St, Stalybridge SK15 2BN

You don’t need to have done any performing or theatre making before!

If you are interested, please fill out this form by 5pm on 28 April

We will be in touch with you to inform you if you have a place on the project by Friday 2 May.

What is the Den Festival?

The Den Festival is a festival that is taking place over four weekends, launching on the 9th May and running until 1st June 2025. You can expect music, workshops, shows, comedy, dance, drama, family mornings and much, much more. This festival is for everyone in Tameside, programmed by local people who have been working with the Royal Exchange Theatre in volunteer roles as Ambassadors and Champions.

What is the Den?

The Den is the Royal Exchange Theatre’s mobile in-the-round theatre and is where the shows and most of the activity in the festival will take place.
