This is an exciting time to be joining the Royal Exchange Theatre, as we move the theatre out of the immediate crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic and towards a new and vibrant future.

We are looking for trustees with a finance and risk management background to join our board, who share our passion for live performance and the arts.

As a trustee of the Royal Exchange Theatre you will join a diverse board, made up of members from a range of different backgrounds..

JOB OVERVIEW

Trustees are the guardians of our purpose, making sure that all decisions put the needs of our beneficiaries first. As a trustee you will have oversight of the strategic direction of the Royal Exchange and contribute to creative discussions about our aims and purpose, ensuring that we remain a vital and relevant cultural asset for Greater Manchester, the UK and beyond..

As a registered charity and company limited by guarantee, you will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with our governing documents, charity law and other laws that apply to our charity.

THE PROCESS FOR APPOINTING TRUSTEES WILL BE AS FOLLOWS;

  • An opportunity to attend a webinar where the Executive Team and a number of Trustees will discuss the Royal Exchange Theatre.
  • Initial conversations with the Executive Director and Artistic Directors. This is an opportunity for prospective Trustees to find out more about the organisation.
  • Informal meeting with the Chair of the Board and a member of the People & Culture Committee.
  • An opportunity for the prospective Trustee to request further information.
  • Meeting with the Chair, People & Culture Committee & Finance Committee representatives and the Executive.

It is intended that the process will begin in early October 2021, we will contact you in good time to arrange suitable dates and times.
