We’ve got some big things happening this year! As we celebrate our 50th Anniversary Season – a landmark year packed with extraordinary theatre – we’re also busy developing our exciting new Creative Exchange programme, shaping the future of how we work with and inspire our communities.
Our Young Company won’t be running in its usual format this year but we’ll be offering lots of other inspiring opportunities for young people who are passionate about theatre.
We’ll be running Young Company Shorts, starting this October Half Term with a Musical Theatre Project for 14–18 year olds from Sat 25 October – Weds 29 October. Based on our Christmas extravaganza, SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN, the project will be run by Kirk Jameson.
Kirk is a Manchester-based theatre director known for his dynamic work across the UK and international stages. With a career spanning musical revivals, new writing, touring productions and digital innovation, he has established himself as a versatile and imaginative presence in the industry. Recent works include Simon Stephens’ play Song From Far Away starring Will Young.
Committed to fostering new talent, Kirk has been actively involved in drama training and mentorship across the UK for almost two decades; leading projects at Arts Educational, Guildford School of Acting, Mountview, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and the University of Central Lancashire to name a few.
No previous experience in dance, theatre or singing is necessary to take part. We welcome people of all abilities who want to learn more about Musical Theatre.

“
“Young Company made me feel comfortable enough to be who I am. I don't know where I would be without it.”
“Over my time at the Young Company I learnt that we're all here for a reason, whether you think that you have a little or a lot of experience, we're all here to learn about the same things. And everything you learn in theatre is not just for theatre. It's something that you can use every day. You learn how to use your initiative. You learn how not to give up.”
“I wouldn't have any of the connections in the industry I do now if I hadn't gone to Young Company or the Collective workshops. I'm now doing something that I'm passionate about. I had no idea stage management existed as a possible career choice until I'd gone to the Young Company.”
